Extended Access Policy
Levels of Extended Access
24-hour key card access:
- to the justices and staff of the Supreme Court, and to members of the judiciary and their staffs.
- to legislators, staffs of the legal and research divisions of the Legislative Counsel Bureau during legislative sessions.
- Weekdays, excluding holidays, while Security is present, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- to legislators or legislative staff
- to deputy attorneys general and other government attorneys;
- to members of the Nevada or California bar and their authorized staff;
- to independently employed paralegals, or paralegals working under the supervision of an attorney;
- to students in a lawrelated class (with a letter from the instructor), for the duration of the course;
- to members of the public who are representing themselves in a legal action, or preparing for a legal action, upon submission to the law librarian of a form containing their name, address (a verifiable physical address is required along with any post office box), telephone number, a brief statement of the reason afterhours access is required;
- to members of the public who request occasional permission to remain after 5:00 p.m. to complete a research project. Occasional users will be logged in by a security officer upon the library's closing and may not be readmitted upon leaving
